Modular Hospital No. 2 Piatra Neamț
The ICU is the heart of any emergency hospital. Around the middle of November 2020, the heart of the Emergency County Hospital in Piatra Neamț burned down.
Now, the ICU Modular Hospital of Piatra Neamț is giving the county hospital back its capacity to treat intensive care patients safely, with no improvisations.

The ICU Modular Hospital of Piatra Neamț offers 17 new intensive care beds, united in 3 wards, and an isolation ward for patients with other infectious diseases. It can be used to treat severe patients, post-op or trauma patients, etc. The hospital follows European standards and includes:
- an air treatment plant (ensures the air quality, humidity and temperature, as well as the pressure difference between the red and green areas, to prevent viruses from spreading and to protect the staff)
- a medical gas platform
- different circuits (to get in and out of the ICU area)
- an access control system based on cards and no-touch buttons
- a fire alarm system
- a nurse call system
- an installation for water decontamination.
The project means an approx. EUR 2,7 million investment, raised through donations and sponsorships, thanks to the involvement of the local community and the ”Împreună pentru Moldova” campaign, of nation-wide visibility.

The ICU Modular Hospital of Piatra Neamț brings an extra chance of living to severe patients and safe working conditions to the staff. The project was initially designed for 18 beds, but together with the epidemiologists we decided that one of the two isolators should be turned into a surveillance post, for the better monitoring of critical patients.

The patients were being redirected to other hospitals

What we bring:
850sqm constructed area
17 new ICU beds
3 wards and 1 isolation ward
2 surveillance posts
Support spaces (laboratory and sterilization area, storage rooms, on-call room, staff locker room, etc.)
A technical platform (medical gas, electrogenous group, air treatment plant)
A filtering area for the patients and medical staff
With the adequate maintenance, the modular hospital can function for 5-10 years and will serve as an exterior ICU, an infectious disease department etc. or can be adapted to any other needs with minimal costs. With the support of its donors and sponsors, Dăruiește Viață has created the plan (masterplan, architecture project, technical project, project management etc.) and the building of the modular hospital (the structure itself, branching it to the utility networks, creating circuits and medical gas connections), while the equipping and functioning part will fall under the task of the county hospital.
