A Pediatric Medical Campus
Marie Curie Hospital is now functioning in two different centuries: one ultramodern building, with treatment conditions similar to the hospitals in Western Europe (built as a result of the #NoiFacemUnSpital initiative), and an old building, from the end of the '70s, with an infrastructure that is inadequate for the new medical standards.
Only some departments of Marie Curie Hospital have moved to the new building: oncology, neurosurgery, surgery, intensive care and a 5-OR operating theatre. The rest have stayed in the old infrastructure. But all children that get here have the right to decent treatment conditions and to an extra chance of living.
The new Hospital is functional and treating children from all around the country, but that is now enough. All of Marie Curie Hospital needs to offer the same standard of care, the same medical infrastructure and access to the newest technologies.
We’re building the first Pediatric Medical Campus at Marie Curie Hospital, as a follow-up to the #NoiFacemUnSpital initiative, in order to provide all the children, their parents and the medical staff with access to modern treatment conditions. The children will benefit from friendly spaces, centered around their own needs, wards with a maximum of 2 beds and individual bathrooms, playrooms and spaces for their psychosocial development, as well as family rooms, where they can spend time with their visitors. The parents will have individual beds in every room, spaces to socialize and relax, and hotel-type rooms for the day clinic. Meanwhile, the staff will have generous spaces for learning and training, state-of-the-art technology and access to the best possible resources, so they can focus on doing their jobs.
