Hospital Party = Silent Party

Hospital Party = Silent Party

On the 17th of July 2025, the Giraffe at Marie Curie Hospital outdid itself, holding the first Silent Party in a Romanian hospital, for children, parents and the medical staff. Wearing their pajamas instead of princess or superhero costumes and wearing flip-flops that reminded us of Cinderella or the PJ Masks, tens of children danced happily, to a tune only they were able to hear.Banu Stefan_BST05061.jpgUntitled design-3.jpgHow come? A Silent Party is a type of event where the music can only be heard using headphones. One or more DJs play songs that are broadcast to the headphones and everyone dances, but in complete silence. We found this recipe of success for parties in the Hospital thanks to our friends at J’ai Bistro, having Master Bogdan Munteanu as chief giver of optimism.Banu Stefan_BST04929.jpgIn a nutshell, the Giraffe gathered the children, Bogdan Ciuclaru played the music, Letiția and Dariana of WorldClass set the tone for the dance moves and DulcEclair enchanted our tastebuds with their amazing eclairs. What more could we want on a hot summer day?
Maybe some cold champagne for the children. Also checked, thanks to Corina, our volunteer, who never comes over to give us a hand without some goodies for the kids.Untitled design-2.jpgAs with any memorable party, this one also got started step by step. At first, the children didn't know what to expect. They put the headphones on and waited. Dariana and Letiția then got them dancing, with the support of Oana, whom the Giraffe asked to help bring the children out of their shells.Banu Stefan_BST04940.jpgOnce the guests got the point and the tunes they knew and loved started flowing, there was no more Hospital. We were in a club! Everyone imagined their own favorite place and danced to their heart's desire for more than an hour. Another bite of eclair, carefully dished out by Andi, another sip of juice (sorry, champagne) served by Corina, another tune encouraging them to dream, chosen by Bogdan Ciuclaru. 5.jpgSunshine, sea, relaxation. What more could you wish for?
Also there was Bianca, AKA the Giraffe Reporter, who records soundbites from our events for Radio Dăruiește Viață. And Carina, Karina and Sophie laughed and danced with the kids until they were exhausted. Them, not the children. If it were up to the kids, they would never stop having fun.Banu Stefan_BST05175.jpgBanu Stefan_BST05110.jpgWhen all was said and done, the children left with their hearts and bellies full, as well as a little prize for the atmosphere they created. Because having fun at a party, be it in a Hospital or somewhere else, is no joke. It needs involvement and dedication. Thank you, children, for everything you are and for everything you teach us. Together, we were able to feel like children for the day, as well.Banu Stefan_BST04945.jpgThe activities organized for the children admitted at Marie Curie are part of the Dăruiește Viață mission to change the Romanian healthcare system. Because (re)creative and therapeutic activities help the patients be more calm and cooperative and can support the medical staff to do their jobs as well as possible. Keep supporting us so that we can go on offering the best treatment conditions and memorable moments for the children going through a tough time.
